Bio

Mark Campbell is a pillar of the Florida baseball community whose legacy is defined by over 40 years of developing elite talent and leadership. Combining a 35-year corporate career at Southern Wine and Spirits with a 25-year tenure as the founder of the North Florida Baseball Academy, Mark has shaped the careers of players who have reached the game’s highest levels.

A former professional player in the Houston Astros organization, Mark is most renowned for his ability to identify and nurture young talent. He coached MLB stars Billy Butler, Ben Gamel, and Mat Gamel during their formative years. His influence extends deep into the coaching ranks today; he mentored Eric Hurley—now the head coach at St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine—and Calvin Orth, the current head coach at University Christian (UC) and 16U lead, both of whom played for Mark as 13- and 14-year-olds.

Throughout his career, Mark has brought this championship standard to several premier institutions, serving as the head coach at Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Arlington Country Day, and Eagles View Academy. Today, his “Practice is Permanent” philosophy continues to resonate through the countless coaches and professional athletes he has inspired across the state.
